26 weeks Mama Style

I'm only 26 weeks pregnant?! I'm definitely starting to feel larger. The great part is though, is feeling the baby move around. I am so thankful for this little one and its movements are a great reminder that all of the discomfort isn't for nothing.

Up until now, in this 2nd trimester, I have had energy to get stuff done in preparation for the third trimester like deep cleaning our home, making and packing away food in the deep freezer and reorganizing spaces to make space. It feels really good. Today, when Jesse came home, I just looked at him and said, "I think I'm done." I meant, the crazy "get things done" nights. I still have lots on my to do list before the baby comes, but they will have to wait for the weekends.

25 weeks Mama Style

I love the rain. I've got to growing up in the Lower Mainland. But we had an incredibly sunny and mild day this last Sunday so we were able to get some shots in at the Lost Lagoon. It is so beautiful there with all of the leaves that have changed colours and the swans. Its definitely a gem of Vancouver.

Ezra was playing in the yard the other night and it just struck me... you are the little boy that I've always dreamed of being a mommy to. It was pretty simple, but I felt like I've been taking him for granted when I had that thought. He is amazing, my role in his life is a precious and so important. This baby will be too. I can still remember missing Ezra's little kicks and nudges a few days after he was born. I am sure I am going to feel the same when this one is born too. I have now though... and that is all that matters. I am really enjoying it.

24 weeks Mama Style

Its been super rainy here in the Lower Mainland, which is why I had to skip out on week 23! Here is week 24 though. All bundled up at the park.

Might have been just me, but when I was a little girl I had a pretty good appetite. Some people would even comment on it, "She's a growing girl." I kind of feel like that again since I am hungry almost all of the time right now.

I have also been nesting this week! Its kind of crazy because its seems really early to be baking, cooking and cleaning more than normal. It makes sense though. With my first pregnancy I felt like I couldn't do ANYTHING for the last couple month so maybe I'm just preparing for that happening again. Hopefully not. Hoping for the best this time around as the third trimester approaches.

22 weeks Mama style

This is week 22. The time is just flying by! I have hardly had a chance to even start thinking about getting stuff we might need for baby #2. I guess we pretty much have everything we really need though from baby #1 still, unless its a girl? I really couldn't say if I 'felt' like it was one way or the other. It kind of seems unreal to me still...

21 Weeks Mama Style

21 weeks here after a sushi feast. I stuck to the artificial Cali rolls and the cooked stuff. I am feeling the baby's kicks get stronger now, and feeling more and more tired and hungry during the day. Its all part of it though and I'm glad!

We got to go for an ultrasound this week too! We aren't going to find out the gender of the baby this time like we did with baby #1. All we know is this baby has the right amount of everything. YAY!

A Formal Evening Mama Style

Last Weekend we attended Ezra's first wedding! He was pretty good for being 19 months old and having a short attention span. We sat in the back row just in case :)
I had an outfit in mind that I was going to wear, but I popped out more that week so it didn't fit right anymore. Instead of panicking, I looked in my closet to problem solve. I have this full black skirt that I thought wouldn't work, but I tried it on and it did! Its supposed to sit lower on your waist, but I pulled it up over the baby bump and it worked! I paired it with a non maternity top since I didn't need to worry about the tummy showing with the skirt on top and here is what I had! I also had a little light brown sweater but I didn't get a chance to get a good picture if me wearing it. Oh well.
In my humble opinion, the accessories and the hair really pulled this look off.

- full black skirt - Jacob (from 9 years ago!)

20 weeks Mama style

This is week 20! I'm half way there. It is really true that the time seems to fly when it is your second pregnancy. I am feeling the baby move finally. I was surprised because I felt Ezra move at 17 weeks when I was a first time mom. It is usually supposed to be the other way around: second time moms are supposed to feel their babies move sooner than first time moms. Either way, its an exciting time to be pregnant!

There are these beautiful sunflowers that have finally bloomed in front of out kitchen window. I hope that I will have a chance to harvest them before the frost comes.

The Maternity Style Dilemma

A few posts ago I announced that we were going to have a second child! Well, as excited as I am about it, sometimes its hard to feel good about yourself while being pregnant. It might have SOMETHING to do with your hormones doing backflips, blowing chunks, being tired almost all of the time and hopefully not, but yes I do, worry about being ready for another baby.

It might seem petty, but one of the things I learned from last time is not to give into the frumpy dumps! You know? When you just don’t care how you look anymore and you want to just stay at home in your pjs, eat ice cream and watch Star Trek? Maybe its just me, but I’m sure I’m not the only one who has struggled with this, or a version of this.

I looked back at some of my maternity belly photos this week and realized that when I felt the best: had the most energy, felt the most optimistic and even excited about the future while being pregnant I also happened to have a cute outfit on. I also remember at the end feeling like I had no creativity left in me. That had something to do with it I’m sure.

These are a few of those outfits from my first pregnancy where I still feel good about two years later:

19 weeks in my first pair of maternity pants from Thyme maternity. In the beginning of my first pregnancy I thought I could get away with wearing pre pregnancy pants with extenders and Bella Bands, but I got to a point early on when I just couldn't stand the feeling of having any restriction on my tummy. The were a definite life saver first time around, and I'm sure will be the second time too.

25 weeks here! I loved my first pair of maternity jeggings so much, that I went back to Thyme and got the same ones in a dark denim colour. The rest of this outfit is from Urban Outfitters. I was glad to be able to find lots of long non maternity tops that definitely work for maternity.

27 weeks here. Dark even wash jeggings by Thyme again. A bright non maternity top by Gentle Fawn and non maternity black blazer by Kensie (unbuttoned of course!). This is definitely the LAST picture of my pregnancy that I feel good about. Thats so sad to me now because pregnancy is and should be a time where I felt beautiful! I was growing another human being! Its a miracle.

This time I have a plan to combat the Frumpy Dumps, among other things. One of the small ways I hope to keep myself aware is to upkeep this blog: including what I wore. I’ve always enjoyed fashion, so why not share it.

So far I think I’ve been doing okay... These are a few outfits I’ve worn so far in this pregnancy:

13 weeks and barely a bump. Besides my hair, and the fit of the cardigan I like this look. I'm wearing a dress as a skirt here with the the straps tucked in. The dress was thrifted and I wore a simple white cami with it.

15 weeks along here. It was a hot day. I wore this refashioned lace dress over a white cami and slip skirt. Its pretty sheer if I don't. I added a simple thin black belt and black heels.

17 weeks and probably one of my favorite looks because you can barely tell I'm pregnant here, even though I am bigger than in week 15. I found this loose fitting dress at the Bay of all places. Department store WIN! Paired it with some statement jewellery from my PiecesIEnjoy line and presto!

It will probably get harder as the belly grows, but I’m up for the challenge! Hopefully I'll have some more maternity outfits to share in a few more weeks while the bump gets bigger, the weather gets colder, and my creativity gets harder to muster up!

Enjoy the rest of the summer!
